Heavies Get Their Revenge With 2–0 Win Over Newtown

Heavitree United returned to winning ways on Saturday with a well-deserved 2–0 victory over Newtown 2nds at Wingfield Park, just a week after suffering a 5–2 defeat against the same opposition.

The Heavies made the perfect start, with Charlie Way opening the scoring inside the first few minutes before Kye Stewart doubled the lead, assisted by Jake Langmaid, to give Heavitree a 2–0 advantage at half-time.

After the disappointment of the previous weekend, this was a much stronger all-round performance. Heavitree showed greater control and commitment, competed well across the pitch and created the better chances. Ollie Blackmore returned to the side at centre-back following his recovery from injury and marked his comeback with an excellent performance, earning Man of the Match as the Heavies kept a clean sheet.

The 2–0 win secured another three points and, perhaps just as importantly, provided the perfect response to the previous week’s defeat.

The Heavies now have a short break from league action before beginning their Devon Senior Cup campaign away to Feniton 2nds on Saturday 10 October.
